Costume Sketches and Ideas

Here are a few sketches a I drew up for costume design. As my documentary is based on real people, places and events it would be obvious to use real costumes for scenes. For example, the blood biker in my documentary will wear real uniform that is used by Cornwall Blood Bikers, this gives the documentary a sense of realism and is much cheaper on the budget. In the first sketch you can see that the blood biker is wearing a helmet, reflector vest (with charity logo and blood logo on back) and an under thermal jacket. The second sketch is of the hospital patient who will receive blood from the biker. In my sketch the patient is just wearing a thin hospital gown and a admittance bracelet. Again, this will be to ensure that the documentary maintains a sense of realism which in turn gives my target audiences what they want to see.  Audiences want to see realism in documentaries as it makes the film more believable and I took this into account when designing and choosing the costumes for the documentary. The nurse and doctors outfit will also have to be as realistic as possible. I will have to find a nurses outfit or scrubs and a doctors coat. I will have to also buy or borrow props such a stethoscopes, clipboards etc.
