Blood Bikers
The bikers helping to save lives at nightThis film will be a full length documentary about a blood biker charity based in Cornwall; looking at the important work they do during the late hours of the night and the early hour of the morning. Blood bikers give up their time to help transport vital blood to patients all around Cornwall and South Devon helping to save many lives, however much of their work is currently unnoticed by much of the general public. Blood Bikers will give the public an insight into the work that the bikers do and overall bring attention to these vital services all around the U.K. Blood Bikers do not get paid for the work that they do and everything is funded by charity donations or out of the bikers own pocket - this documentary will give the charity more recognition and hopefully keep the charities up and running.
Blood Bikers will break down into three parts. The first section will show the biker getting back from work and receiving a call at his home in the evening; driving home the point that the bikers do not know when they will receive a call asking for them to deliver blood. This will continue into footage of the biker putting on his uniform and getting the motorcycle ready for the journey.
The next section will be the journey the biker takes and will represent the solitude felt. Biker journey from any time between 17:00 and 07:00, and the roads are extremely quiet at these times. These clips of the biker will be broken up by interviews with bikers, nurses and patients, as well as voice overs.
The last section will be the arrival at the hospital. The biker arrives in the hospital, delivers the blood and leaves. The transaction is not long and this will be noticeable in the documentary. The blood bikers do not know the patients personally and in many cases they don't even see the patients. This will then continue into shots of the biker leaving the hospital and more shots of the biker riding the motorcycle.
The documentary will be visually striking, and incorporate many aspects of other medical documentaries however it will be unique in it's own way to represent how different Blood Bikers are to other medical professions. For example, this documentary will be slightly slower in terms of pace as Blood Bikers have to follow speed limits.

Excellent treatment Lee, demonstrating your clear ideas and plans for the documentary.
